Moonlight (2016)

Chiron is a small, shy boy whose sensitive nature makes him a target for the local bullies and even his own abusive, drug-addicted mother. He finds little solace with his friend Kevin and a local drug dealer Juan who guides him, becoming a parental figure of sorts. Even so, Chiron must navigate a harsh childhood and more bullying as he reaches his rough teenager years that are filled with self-discovery and peer pressure. Once a young adult, he must face the choice of letting his childhood define him or seeking out his own better path in life.
