Bearing the weight of a Silver Star and Purple Heart from his service in the Vietnam War, twenty-two-year-old Julius Vrooder retreats to the psychiatric ward of a VA Hospital in San Diego, a voluntary patient grappling with unseen emotional scars from his war experiences.
