In the heart of A CIAMBRA, nestled amidst a close-knit Romani community in Calabria, we find Pio Amato, a young lad of 14, burning with an insatiable desire to ascend into adulthood. Pio, with his fondness for smoking and drinking, is a unique entity, adept at navigating the social labyrinth of his homeland, effortlessly blending with the local Italians, his Romani kin, and the African refugees. He trails his older brother, Cosimo, like a shadow, absorbing the essential survival skills for life within the raw underbelly of their hometown. However, when Cosimo vanishes and their world begins to teeter on chaos, Pio embarks on a mission to demonstrate his readiness to fill his big brother's void. The journey soon confronts him with a daunting choice, a test of his maturity, pushing him to the precipice of manhood, questioning whether he is genuinely prepared to take the leap.
