Plot

On the cusp of university graduation, Joanna finds herself standing at a crossroads, torn between the path laid out for her and the unorthodox one she yearns to tread. Ignoring the protests of her perplexed boyfriend, skeptical best friend, and dismissive mother, Joanna resolves to heed a divine calling that has echoed within her since childhood: to become a nun. Her only support comes from Consuela, their devout housekeeper, who encourages Joanna to follow her heart. Venturing into the austere world of a Benedictine cloister, she is met with an assortment of eccentrics that baffle her initial expectations: Sister Ignatious, a politically-charged novitiate; a Mother Superior teetering on the edge of sanity; a vineyard-keeper with a weakness for alcohol and football; and Sister Hilda, who finds utmost sincerity in her mopping duties. Amid the chaos, Joanna begins to question whether she's embarked on the right journey. As time unravels, however, Joanna finds herself drawn into the heart of the convent's community, touched by the profound bond of sisterhood and the spiritual love that knit these women together. She discovers an unexpected sense of fulfillment, finding in herself a profound connection to the divine that she had only glimpsed from afar. But the path to self-discovery is seldom smooth. Joanna stumbles upon a hidden part of herself, setting off a chain of revelations that threaten to upend her newfound peace. Amid these whirlwinds, her relationship with Sister Ignatious evolves, guiding her towards an unforeseen destiny. The Calling is a journey of faith, a testament to the power of spiritual love, and a portrayal of the often-unseen life within the cloistered walls of a convent.
