Bluegrass banjo player Didier walks into a tattoo shop owned by Elise and soon falls in love with her. He invites her to see his band perform. She does and then joins the band as a singer. Elise and Didier's passionate love affair results in her pregnancy a few months later. The couple happily embraces parenthood and life is good until the child becomes terminally ill with cancer. Suddenly, life’s carefree simplicity has slipped away. Making things worse are the divergent views of Elise and Didier – she’s a New Age spiritual type and he’s a scientific realist.
