The Big Hit (1998)

In the dichotomy of domestic life and dangerous underworld affairs, Melvin Smiley thrives as a successful young hitman, maintaining an ordinary façade for his unsuspecting Jewish fiancée, Pam. His life, however, is far from mundane - he carries out deadly tasks for Paris' organization, harbors a secret relationship with a stunning neighborhood beauty, and contends with a persistent video store clerk, all while avoiding overdue fees on an unreturned "King Kong Lives" video. In a reckless pursuit of financial relief for his second girlfriend's debts, Melvin and his crew - Cisco, Crunch, and Vince - hatch a risky scheme. They kidnap Keiko, the daughter of the supposedly wealthy businessman, Jiro Nishi, believing the payout will be monumental. Unbeknownst to them, Jiro's fortune has crumbled following a disastrous movie production, leaving him bankrupt. Adding to their ill-fated plan, they discover that their captive Keiko is the god-daughter of their boss, Paris, igniting a ruthless hunt for the unassuming kidnappers. While Paris and his men close in, a bewildering relationship sprouts in the most unlikely of circumstances. Keiko, held hostage and handcuffed, begins to fall for her captor, Melvin, as they find themselves preparing a kosher meal for Pam's visiting parents. Amidst the chaos, a body finds its way into the trunk of their car, amplifying the high-stakes escapade. In the whirlwind of potential Jewish in-laws, burgeoning love interests, and an ever-tightening noose of underworld consequences, Melvin must navigate through an escalating series of misadventures. Struggling to balance love, loyalty, and survival, he prepares to confront those aiming to double-cross him, in a world where every decision could be his last.
