The Best Man (2005)

Olly Pickering, fresh from academia and full of promise, finds an opportunity to pen his dreams down. But with the advance of a lucrative contract, his once vibrant creativity is cruelly shackled by an inexplicable fear, a block so massive that it even interferes with his most basic functions. This crippling writer's block leads him to seek refuge in his successful old friend Murray's Soho flat, swapping his author aspirations for the mundane life of a publishing research assistant. A twist of fate comes when he is handpicked as the best man for James, a friend from his New York days, in an elaborate London wedding. At the raucous bachelor party, Olly's heart is ensnared by a bewitching flirt. But to his despair, the enchantress turns out to be Sarah, the soon-to-be bride. Striving to be noble, Olly decides to step back, but the shrewd and audacious Murray continually orchestrates their meetings, simultaneously finding himself entangled with Sarah's fiery sister. As the wedding bells draw nearer, Olly's resolve is tested when James confesses his lack of fidelity. In the whirlwind of love, friendship, and morality, Olly must choose his path, with his heart as his only compass.
