Plot

In the turbulent year of 1432, a young infant, François Villon, is left fatherless, his father having paid the ultimate price for his unwavering loyalty to France. As time unfurls, François matures into a man of many faces - a celebrated poet, a fervent patriot, and a debonair playboy not averse to dabbling in the criminal underworld. During a raucous All Fools Day celebration, François oversteps his boundaries, offending Duke Charles of Burgundy, resulting in King Louis XI, who fears Charles, banishing him from Paris. Finding himself in the wilderness of exile, François commits himself to devising strategies to safeguard his beloved France from the malevolent schemes of Burgundy. A major plot of Charles to wed his confidant to King's ward, Charlotte, is foiled by the sharp-witted François. However, this act of defiance earns him a death sentence. With the specter of death looming, François ingeniously capitalizes on King Louis XI's superstitious tendencies to buy himself more time. He seeks not just an opportunity to once again serve his beloved nation, but also to win the heart of the fair Charlotte, adding a romantic twist to his daring exploits.
