The 4th Floor (1999)

In the chilling urban thriller, The 4th Floor, a young woman finds herself in a maze of peculiarities and unknown dangers after inheriting an apartment from her grandmother, whose life ended in a strange, unexplained accident in that very place. Her new home, once a haven of familial love, quickly becomes a sinister playground for unseen adversaries. An onslaught of rats and flies invades her living space, an eerie indication that someone, or something, is aiming to terrorize her. The building's residents are a bizarre ensemble, each with their quirks and hidden secrets. The woman upstairs is shrouded in warnings from the others, yet he proves to be the only source of kindness in a sea of eccentricities. Below her, an octogenarian's aggressive hammering against the floor is powerful enough to shatter tiles, casting a shadow of suspicion. A neighbor, initially friendly, becomes increasingly intrusive and menacing as time passes, adding to the mounting tension. Even her weatherman boyfriend, in his insistence that she live with him instead, cannot be entirely dismissed. Yet, against his wishes, she chooses to brave the unsettling uncertainties of the inherited apartment. The 4th Floor is a suspenseful exploration of a young woman trapped in a labyrinth of mystery and paranoia, where every person seems to have a motive, and every corner hides a threat.
