Tentacles (1977)

In the sun-drenched seaside haven of Ocean Beach, an escalating series of inexplicable disappearances shrouds the town in a chilling mystery. Ned Turner, a determined reporter, is drawn to the town not just to visit his sister, Tillie, and her young son, but to unravel the enigma that has begun to grip the once tranquil resort. As the town is gripped by a fresh wave of terror, a monstrous revelation comes to light - a mutated, colossal octopus is the stealthy predator feeding on the unsuspecting vacationers and locals alike. Unfazed by the town's escalating panic, marine biologist Will Gleason joins forces with Ned, determined to expose the truth lurking in the depths of the azure waters. Their investigation is tinged with suspicion towards Mr. Whitehead, the enigmatic president of the Trojan Construction Company. Meanwhile, the town's horrors threaten to escalate as a grand sailing regatta bursts into life, with many children participating, including Turner's beloved nephew, Tommy. As the investigation deepens, the duo must race against the clock to save the town from the terror of the titanic octopus.
