Plot

In the hushed anticipation of a night rehearsal for the ballet Swan Lake, 28-year-old Marie, a gifted and solitary ballerina on the precipice of her career, receives an unexpected package - a diary. This unassuming relic catapults her back to a radiant, reckless summer thirteen years prior, spent on an enchanting island near Stockholm, under the warm care of her Aunt Elisabeth and Uncle Erland. In this sun-drenched interlude, she meets Henrik, a wealthy yet endearing college boy. Their connection is instant and consuming, their summer days undulating between laughter and longing, their focus solely on each other. As the golden summer wanes into autumn, an unease begins to shadow Marie, a premonition that curdles the joy of their perfect love. On one of their final days together, in a moment of carefree abandon, Henrik makes a shallow dive that ends in a tragic accident, his head and back injuries robbing him of life and Marie of her innocence. This traumatic event sends ripples through Marie's life, building a wall around her heart, forever tainting her sentimental life. Years later, as she navigates the twilight of her dancing career, the diary's arrival forces Marie to confront the ghosts of her past. She begins to grapple with the tragic loss of Henrik, the love of her youth, and the mistakes she's made in the wake of his death. The summer interlude that once held her heart captive now compels her to face her life’s dance with sorrow and joy, love and loss, regret and redemption.
