Strangeland (1998)

In the pulsating vortex of a teen chat room, Genevieve Gage, the youthful offspring of seasoned detective Mike Gage, is inexplicably drawn into a blind date with the enigmatic Capt Howdy. Beneath his veneer of cool, Capt Howdy is a labyrinth of darkness, a deeply disturbed and sadistic individual adorned with piercings. His sinister intentions soon surface as he ensnares Genevieve and her close-knit companion, Tiana Moore, dragging them into a world of unimaginable torment. As Tiana's lifeless body is discovered, Mike's paternal instinct ignites into a relentless pursuit to bring Capt Howdy to justice. His efforts see the malevolent captor confined first to a jail cell, then committed to a mental institution. Four agonizing years pass, and despite the town's vehement objections, Capt Howdy is deemed rehabilitated and set free from the institution's cold grasp. However, tranquility is short-lived as Capt Howdy resurfaces, his insidious obsession with Genevieve undiminished. He kidnaps her once more, sparking a new wave of terror. This time, Mike's quest for justice transforms into a raw, unyielding vow: the extermination of Capt Howdy, no matter the cost.
