Plot

"Stoned" is a gritty, fact-based tale that charts the hedonistic descent and untimely end of Brian Jones, the charismatic founder of The Rolling Stones. Rapidly plunging into a realm of indulgence and narcotic haze, Jones becomes a shadow of his former self, leaving viewers to grapple with the stark transformation of this musical genius. The narrative is punctuated by fleeting, poignant moments with other Stones members, notably Keith Richards, who attempt to reel Jones back into the band's fold amidst his spiraling self-destruction. Interwoven within this tale of excess and downfall is the figure of Frank Thorogood, a humble builder commissioned to renovate Jones' estate and keep an eye on him, as per his manager's orders. Thorogood, far removed from the intoxicating whirlwind of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll that envelops Jones, finds himself yearning for the same forbidden allure, yet remains an outsider in this decadent world. The film then takes a sinister turn, as it insinuates that this desire, coupled with his inability to truly belong, led Thorogood to nefariously orchestrate Jones' "accidental" drowning in his swimming pool. This theory, rooted in Thorogood's alleged deathbed confession in 1993, adds an eerie undertone to the narrative, casting a shadow of suspicion over Jones' tragic death, mere weeks after his departure from the band he had created. "Stoned" is a riveting chronicle of a rock legend's tumultuous journey, blending the glamour and grit of the music world with the chilling suspicion of a murder mystery, leaving viewers to ponder over the true cost of fame and hedonism.
