Star Trek: Generations (1994)

The crew of the original Enterprise has retired and is on a shakedown cruise of its successor ship. However, on the cruise, refugees on a nearby ship have been caught in a strange energy ribbon. Some refugees are saved, and Kirk is killed in the process. The film then jumps to Captain Jean Luc Picard and his crew, who respond to a distress signal from a nearby system. Picard and his crew become entangled in a scheme by one of the refugees saved by the original Enterprise, ultimately resulting in a meeting of the two most famous Enterprise captains in galactic history.
