In the heart of World War I, amidst the smoke and shadows of 1915, we are introduced to Annemarie, a cunning German agent, handpicked by the Chief of German Counter-Intelligence, Von Sturm, for a mission of utmost importance. A leak in the Turkish theater's strategic planning has been detected and all signs point towards Ali Bey, the authoritative commander of the Dardanelles.
Von Sturm dispatches the steely-nerved Annemarie to the ancient city of Constantinople, entrusting her with the task of securing irrefutable proof against the suspected betrayer. However, the journey isn't as straightforward as it seems. En route to the Middle East, Annemarie's path crosses with the charismatic Douglas Beall, an American medical student with a free spirit and an adventurous heart.
