In the tense year of 1916, as the world is embroiled in the chaos of World War I, a motley crew of spirited American youngsters make the audacious choice to volunteer for the French military. Their patriotism and courage lead them to become the legendary Lafayette Escadrille, the first U.S. fighter pilots painted against the brutal canvas of the Great War.
