Plot

Beneath the grandeur of the theater and the allure of a musical play, a chilling tale unfolds in "Stage Fright" (1987). As the curtain rises, we meet Alicia—a gifted dancer who, during an intense rehearsal, suffers a twisted ankle. Betty, the play’s costume designer, unknowingly ushers a new character into this chilling narrative as she drives Alicia to a nearby hospital, unaware it’s a mental institution. There, amidst the echoes of insanity, a menacing psychopath named Irving Wallace sees his chance for escape, hitching a ride unnoticed in Betty's car. Upon their return to the theater, the plot takes a gruesome turn as Irving claims his first victim—Betty. Alicia stumbles upon her body, triggering a wave of terror that washes over the cast and crew. Peter, the ambitious director, sees an opportunity amidst the chaos, deciding to leverage the tragedy to draw attention to the play. He hastily rewrites the script, ropes in six new actors, and promises them a bonus for their prompt participation. As he instructs the lead actress, Corinne, to lock the theater and hide the keys, the stage is set for a night of suspense and horror. Unbeknownst to them, the theater isn't just their stage—it's the hunting ground of Irving Wallace. As the actors rehearse, they find themselves trapped inside with the psychopath, each tick of the clock amplifying their dread. Is the killer one of the new actors, or is it Irving, hiding in the shadows? As the lines between the play and reality blur, a gripping question hangs in the air: Who will make it to the final curtain call in this macabre performance of life and death?
