Day of the Dead (2008)

In the small, secluded town of Leadville, Colorado, Captain Rhodes and his military unit enforce a stringent lockdown to curb a mysterious influenza-like outbreak. The Pine Valley Medical Center swells with ailing locals, their freedoms curtailed, their homes turned into a quarantine zone. Amidst this chaos, Corporal Sarah Bowman, a Leadville native, and Private Bud Crain make a desperate journey to Sarah's home, where they discover her mother fallen ill. Their hopes of recovery are dashed when the sick begin to metamorphose into ravenous, swift-moving zombies, their hunger for human flesh insatiable. Sarah, Bud, and Private Salazar, thrown together by fate, commandeer a jeep, aiming for the town's exit and a chance at survival. However, a voice on the radio halts their escape - Trevor, Sarah's brother, is alive and hiding at the local radio station with his girlfriend Nina. Driven by a sister's love and the instinct to survive, the group embarks on a perilous journey to rescue Trevor. Their quest for safety leads them to an isolated Nike missile site, and beneath its cold, imposing surface, they stumble upon an underground army base. Here, they must face the chilling reality of their situation, as they seek shelter from the relentless, gnawing horror that once was their fellow townsfolk.
