In the monotonous labyrinth of Tokyo, Shohei Sugiyama (Kôji Yakusho) is a diligent accountant, bound by the rigidity of routine and the responsibilities of his domestic life. Despite reaching the zenith of societal success, an invisible shroud of melancholy hangs over him, making his existence dreary and unfulfilled. One fateful evening, on his mundane commute home, he spots the ethereal face of Mai Kishikawa (Tamiyo Kusakari) in the balcony of a dance school, her beauty radiating like an oasis in his drab life. Intrigued and drawn by her allure, and desperate to break the shackles of his humdrum existence, Shohei musters the courage to secretly enroll in the dance school.
