Selma (2014)

Dr. Martin Luther King's famous 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama would shape the civil rights movement in major ways, but this exploration of the three months leading to the march demonstrate how unlikely the march's success actually was. Despite a passionate desire for equality, Dr. King and his compatriots in the civil rights movement encounter virulent and unapologetic racism from the residents of Alabama as well as significant resistance from both the White House and the FBI. The people in power benefit from the status quo, but King and his capable associates are ready to demonstrate what's actually possible when human rights are at stake.
