In the sweltering summer of 1943, nestled in an idyllic village, childhood chums Tuur and Lambert roam free. From Lambert's familial farm to the mysterious marl caves hidden within the woods, they claim every corner as their playground. However, the encroaching war poised on the outskirts of their sanctuary is about to rewrite their innocent narratives. Tuur's family, led by his father, aligns with the resistance, his elder brother too caught in its web. Contrarily, Lambert's kin succumbs to the Germans' rule, pledging obedience. This divergence in loyalties threatens to fracture the boys' comradeship. Their world takes another spin when a city-bred girl enters their pastoral paradise. She befriends the duo but trusts only one with her secret, a decision that drives a wedge between the companions and puts her in peril. Tuur finds himself on the precipice of losing not just his bond with Lambert, but his entire family, prompting him to brave any storm to protect what he holds dear.
