Caught in the gritty underbelly of the crime world, Lenny Burroughs is just an honest auto mechanic dreaming of owning his garage and affording his impending nuptials. However, he finds himself moonlighting as a driver for local mobster, Rick, a detour on his road to respectable living. His world takes a sharp turn when he unknowingly becomes an accomplice in the abduction of Jimmy Berg, a notorious gang kingpin. Berg's crime? Swindling rival mobster, Trevor Morrison, of a staggering $7 million and extinguishing the lives of three of his men, one being the son of his trusted ally. Morrison's scheme is simple: to bargain Berg's freedom with his partner, Steve Wayne, for the purloined money, a hefty indemnity, and a slice of lucrative union municipal contracts. But fate has a twisted sense of humor. The plan is derailed when Rick, seemingly under the influence of an unseen puppet master, diverts Lenny to an unexpected location. As Rick exits the van, he is ruthlessly gunned down in a hail of bullets by Wayne's henchmen, the echoes of gangland justice ringing in the air. Fear and desperation grip Lenny as he quickly realizes he could be next. Seizing Rick's gun, he holds Berg hostage, demanding the hoods retreat to their vehicles. The stage is set for a tense standoff, spilling from the deserted street into a nearby deli. With negotiations playing out over the phone, Lenny is thrown into a deadly game of survival, forced to serve as Trevor's reluctant pawn.
