In the glittering panorama of 1958 Hollywood, a small-town Baptist beauty queen and aspiring actress, Marla Mabrey (Lily Collins), steps into the captivating world of film with a contract from the enigmatic movie tycoon, Howard Hughes (Warren Beatty). Accompanied by her mother (Annette Bening), Marla is swept into the City of Angels, her dreams fueled by a screen test for one of Hughes' cinematic ventures.
