Plot

In the heart of London, nestled in a bustling council flat, resides the spirited Shola, affectionately known as "Rocks" (Bukky Bakray), alongside her younger brother Emmanuel (D'angelou Osei Kissiedu) and their single mother. Their days are filled with the typical bustle of life, with Rocks often spending her free time immersed in the camaraderie of school friends. However, one fateful day ushers in a drastic change in Rocks' world, leaving her alone and burdened with the enormous responsibility of caring for her younger brother. Now abandoned, Rocks grapples with her new reality, juggling the trials of adolescence with the harsh demands of survival on the city streets. Yet, even in the face of adversity, Rocks shines as a beacon of resilience, her mercurial spirit and impulsive nature both a testament to her youth and a challenge to her circumstances. She frequently stumbles, making decisions that reflect her desperation, yet to her, these are necessary choices in the pursuit of survival. As Rocks navigates this uncertain terrain, her closest friend Sumaya (Kosar Ali) steps up to lend a helping hand. But Rocks finds it difficult to accept this olive branch, her vision clouded by the stark contrast between Sumaya's two-parent household and her own desperate situation. In "Rocks" we encounter a poignant portrayal of youthful resilience and the power of friendship set against the backdrop of a gritty urban landscape. This is not a tale of despair, but rather, a surprising exploration of strength and survival.
