In the expansive, sun-seared landscapes of the Australian outback, a truck driver named Patrick "Pat" Quid navigates the lonely roads with only his faithful dingo for company. With the monotony of the journey echoing in his mind, Pat finds solace in his unique pastime - spinning elaborate life stories about the fellow travelers he encounters along the way. The road unfurls endless possibilities, but it also harbours an ominous underbelly. As the tires of his semi crunch over the gravel, Pat becomes aware of a chilling thread on the radio - the news of a serial killer preying on women. His instincts tingle when he notices a green van that keeps appearing on his path, its driver behaving oddly. The pieces slowly fall into place, leading him to suspect that this driver is not just a fellow traveler on the road, but the murderer, concealing his gruesome trophies in plastic bags and burying them in the desert's unforgiving embrace. The journey takes an unexpected turn when Pat picks up an intriguing hitchhiker, Pamela Rushworth. As the outback zips by, he shares his suspicions about the green van with her. When they pull over at a gas station and spot the van again, curiosity overpowers Pamela, compelling her to investigate. But when Pamela vanishes without a trace, the road trip spirals into a relentless pursuit of the elusive van. As Pat hurtles down the highways after the van, the lines between pursuer and suspect blur. The police, drawn by his erratic chase, begin to suspect him. Spotlighted by suspicion, Pat is thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, where every mile could hold the key to Pamela's fate or be the road to his downfall.
