Plot
In 2015, Gabriel obtains a VCR with a mysterious VHS tape inside. It contains Samara Morgan's cursed recording, which gives Gabriel seven days to live. Julia, meanwhile, bids her boyfriend farewell to college. Holt then appears to ghost Julia before a woman named Skye reaches out. At that point, Julia discovers a group named the Sevens.
The Sevens are running an experiment on the cursed videotape. Julia becomes entangled with their affairs after being reunited with Holt. She watches the videotape and discovers that Samara's remains must be disposed of. The group then attempts to find the remains and put Samara to rest before it's too late.
