Renegades (1946)

In the tranquil frontier town of Prairie Dog, Hannah Brockway, the cherished daughter of respected insurance magnate Nathan Brockway, finds her life set on a predictable path. Engaged to the town's devoted physician, Dr. Sam Martin, Hannah's future seems secure and uneventful. However, a sudden twist of fate and an illicit spark of passion disrupt her well-planned life. She crosses paths with Ben Dembrow, the youngest scion of the notorious outlaw clan led by Kirk Dembrow. Consumed by love, Ben, who desires a life distanced from his family's criminal legacy, adopts a new identity. Against the murmurs of scandalized townsfolk, he and Hannah unite in matrimony. Yet, the relentless suspicions of their neighbors culminate in a false accusation against Ben, leading to a dramatic rescue by his outlaw kin in the heart of the courtroom. Disenchanted by the harsh reality of his fate, Ben succumbs to his outlaw roots, spiriting Hannah away into a life on the run. As months of evasion wear on them and the anticipation of a child looms, Hannah, driven by desperation, reaches out to the ever-faithful Dr. Martin. He brings her back to the sanctuary of her family home just in time for her to give birth. In a desperate bid to reclaim his love, Ben abducts the newborn, forcing Hannah into a dire dilemma. The stage is set for a tense showdown between the steadfast Dr. Martin and the conflicted Ben, their fates entwined in a battle not just for survival, but for the heart of the woman they both love.
