Plot

In the quaint, tight-knit community of Nova Scotia, Lexie Ivy, a spirited 30-year-old proprietor of a charming Bed and Breakfast, stands out with her plus-size vivacity. As her sister's wedding looms, Lexie finds herself in a pickle—she needs a date and options in her small town are scarce. The most eligible bachelor is Joss, the rugged handyman diligently repairing her roof, but Lexie's heart flutters for a different man. A dashing and charismatic guest, Adrian, a photographer by profession, checks into her B&B and seemingly reciprocates Lexie's interest. She naively believes her romantic quest has reached a happy ending. However, Lexie's dream swiftly unravels into a nightmare when she discovers Adrian in a compromising situation with her sister, who’s soon-to-be-wed. In a moment of anger and hurt, Lexie exposes the secret, instigating a disastrous ripple effect that results in the wedding being called off and painful silence between the sisters. Just as Lexie thinks her life can't get any more complicated, she uncovers another secret—her revered father, the town doctor, has been having an affair, a reality her mother has been quietly enduring. When her father unexpectedly passes away, the Ivy family teeters on the edge of disintegration. Navigating through a series of comedic blunders and sobering reality checks, Lexie eventually uncovers the true essence of love. With her heart and eyes newly enlightened, she realizes that the love she yearned for was much closer than she'd ever imagined. This heartwarming tale of love, family, and self-discovery, "Relative Happiness" explores the unexpected turns life can take and the resilience it takes to stay afloat.
