Plot

In the wake of a decade-long divorce from Luc, her reckless ex-husband, Pascale finds herself trapped in an emotional battlefield, where every reunion is marked by bitter disputes. At the heart of this turmoil are their twin sons, Thierry and François - now adults but seemingly indifferent towards their mother. Yet, beneath a facade of a functional family, Pascale's dreams of a new life brew quietly, fueled by the affection she receives from her secret lover, Jan - a Flemish neighbour with chef aspirations. Pascale's role as the provider and matriarch remains unchallenged, even as her sons step into adulthood. The twins, inseparable yet contrasting in temperament, are entirely unaware of their mother's clandestine romance with Jan. His ambition to open a restaurant and bed-and-breakfast with Pascale stirs a whirlpool of change that threatens to uproot the status quo. As Pascale considers leaving her job and selling the family house to realise this dream, the equilibrium of their lives begins to shudder, sending ripples through the family dynamics. Thierry, the more academic of the siblings and in a steady relationship with Anne, vehemently opposes the idea of his mother squandering what he sees as their father's legacy. François, the gentler soul content to work as a handyman, contemplates supporting his mother's decision, even considering a role in the 'family business'. As tension mounts, Pascale moves out of the family home and into her friend Gerda's house, yet this does little to quell the unrest. What follows is a series of events that shake the already fragile balance of their lives, catapulting the family towards an unforeseen tragedy. This is a tale of dreams, desires, and the struggle for autonomy, where the pursuit of a new beginning might just shatter the world one has known.
