Plot

After a bitter disagreement with her only friend in Los Angeles, Judy Adams, Cheryl Stratton, a youthful runaway from Cleveland, seeks refuge in the shadowy Kingston Hotel. She has never met the owners — her Aunt Martha and late Uncle Orville — but their tales of mystery and intrigue have always echoed in her family lore. Leaving behind the familiar, she plunges into the labyrinth of this dilapidated hotel, where her staunchly puritanical Aunt Martha reluctantly offers her a brief stay. The Kingston Hotel — a gothic relic amid the urban jungle — is a world swirling with secrets and inhabited by a peculiar ensemble of long-term residents. Cheryl, with her youthful bravado masking a deep-seated anxiety, stands on the precipice of adulthood, unprepared for the eerie whispers that haunt the hotel's dimly lit corridors during both day and night. As she navigates this alien landscape, she becomes aware of a surreptitious admirer observing her from the shadows. Driven by curiosity and a budding sense of womanhood, Cheryl embarks on a clandestine quest to unmask her secret observer, unwittingly unravelling the hotel's hidden mysteries one by one. Her path intersects with George, a charismatic photographer whose longing for human connection manifests in an unusual relationship with an inflatable doll, and who finds himself inexplicably drawn to Cheryl. Meanwhile, Cheryl befriends Jeff, a local store clerk with ties to the enigmatic former hotel resident, Alice Rogers. As Cheryl peels back the layers of intrigue, the hotel's haunted past begins to reveal itself, and she realizes that she may have unwittingly checked into a deadly trap. Amidst the looming threat, Martha's moralizing obsession with funerals, and the vanishing of Alice, Cheryl finds herself in a high-stakes game of survival, with Jeff possibly being her only ally. Private Parts is a chilling tale of innocence lost amidst a backdrop of family secrets and hidden threats. The question remains: Will Cheryl survive the sinister machinations of the Kingston Hotel, or will she become the latest resident to disappear, swallowed by its menacing past?
