After a bitter disagreement with her only friend in Los Angeles, Judy Adams, Cheryl Stratton, a youthful runaway from Cleveland, seeks refuge in the shadowy Kingston Hotel. She has never met the owners — her Aunt Martha and late Uncle Orville — but their tales of mystery and intrigue have always echoed in her family lore.
