Prey (2020)

In the aftermath of a tragic road accident that claimed her sister Vera's life and left her quadriplegic, teenage Elena finds herself wrapped in a cocoon of resentment and grief. Seeking to mend their fractured relationship, Elena's father, Miguel, whisks her away to their country home, a place where he hopes the healing balm of time can work its magic. Hindered by her limited mobility and tethered to a mechanized wheelchair, Elena's only aid is a Belgian Shepherd named Athos, trained to assist her with tasks like opening doors. Yet, Elena's bitterness extends to Athos, who she sees as a living reminder of her helplessness. An eerie incident unfolds when Miguel stumbles upon a dying bat in their cellar, which unexpectedly attacks Athos before Miguel can intervene. As Miguel rushes to take Athos to a vet, he is seized by a heart attack in full view of Elena. In her frantic attempts to summon help, she topples a closet containing Miguel's cell phone, leading to a nasty blow to her head from one of Vera's trophies. When Elena regains consciousness, she finds herself in a chilling predicament: alone in a house specially equipped for her, with only a rabid Athos for company. Haunted by the spectral presence of Vera and with her mind as the only weapon in her limited arsenal, Elena must outwit Athos and return to civilization, before man's best friend transforms into her worst nightmare. With each tick of the clock, Elena's battle for survival takes on a nail-biting intensity, as she must draw upon her inner strength and resilience to overcome the deadly challenge posed by Athos.
