Coffy (1973)

In the harsh light of day, Coffy is an unassuming nurse, her hands dedicated to healing and saving lives. But as dusk descends, her white uniform is replaced with the dark attire of an avenger. Her younger sister, LuBelle, has been ensnared by the city's brutal drug underworld, exploited by a cold-hearted heroin dealer. The venomous sting of this betrayal triggers a transformation in Coffy, awakening a fierce lioness within. Her weapon of choice isn't her medical knowledge but her irresistible charm, stunning beauty, and a trusty sawed-off shotgun. She becomes a nocturnal huntress, prowling the city's grimy streets, seeking retribution against the corrupt mobsters and their army of cold-blooded henchmen that have poisoned her sister's innocence. As Coffy, Harlem's own black panther, embarks on her mission to cleanse the city, she crosses paths with a police detective. He too, leads a double life, maintaining an honest facade to mask his own personal vendetta. Their lives intertwine in this dark urban jungle, each fuelling the other's thirst for justice.
