Pornography (2003)

In the heart of the Polish countryside during the tumult of WWII, Witold, our narrator, finds himself amidst a convergence of intellectual artists in Warsaw. Here he encounters Frederick, a stranger shrouded in mystery yet brimming with charm. The burgeoning friendship between the two leads Witold to invite Frederick to the home of his friend Hipolit and his wife Maria. As they settle into the country home, Witold and Frederick become consumed with an unusual mission - to orchestrate a romantic entanglement between Hipolit's strikingly beautiful teenage daughter, Henia, and Karol, a handsome young man laboring in the farm. But their plans are complicated by Henia's engagement to Vaclav, who is under the watchful eye of his devoutly religious mother, Amelia. While the two gentlemen weave their intricate web of manipulation, the Polish resistance, headed by the stalwart Siemian, wages a fierce battle against the German invaders in the neighboring woods. Hipolit, a silent supporter of the resistance, finds his tranquil household thrown into turmoil when tasked with the dire responsibility of "liquidating" Siemian to protect him from the enemy's clutches. In the midst of all this chaos, Frederick finds himself increasingly captivated by Veronika, a young and pretty maid at the house. But behind his infatuation lies a shadowy secret from his past, threatening to unravel the fragile threads of their intertwined lives.
