Once a Hollywood darling, comedian and actor Pauly Shore finds himself in a downward spiral, losing his house, his representation, and his standing in the entertainment industry. Forced to retreat to his childhood home and take up a job parking cars at The Comedy Store, Pauly's life takes a surreal turn one fateful night in his mother's attic. A phantom from comedy's past, an iconic comedian long since passed, materializes with an odd proposition. He advises Pauly to stage his own death, promising him posthumous recognition as a comedic mastermind whose life was tragically cut short. Embracing the macabre advice, Pauly fakes his demise and, as predicted, the media erupts into a frenzy. His name becomes a global sensation, with celebrities debating his legacy on MTV and female fans battling for his affection on Jerry Springer. Pauly revels in his newfound fame from the shadows, his ploy having succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. However, fame is fleeting and secrets are hard to keep. Within weeks, a tip-off leads the L.A.P.D. to his hideaway, a run-down motel room. In a dramatic turn of events, they storm his sanctuary, apprehending him and consigning him to Los Angeles County's infamous celebrity wing.
