Operation Chromite (2016)

In the midst of the tumultuous year 1950, South Korea bears the brunt of a brutal invasion by the North Korean army, leading to a swift and devastating defeat. In a desperate bid to turn the tide, the UN coalition, led by the indomitable General Douglas MacArthur (Liam Neeson), conceives a daring strategy known as "Operation Chromite". This audacious plan involves a massive invasion of the South Korean peninsula, executed through the strategically vital Incheon port. But the waters are laden with mines, and the location of the enemy defenses remains unknown, threatening to thwart this last-ditch effort. In response to this dire situation, MacArthur orchestrates a surreptitious mission, codenamed "X-Ray". He handpicks an eight-man military unit from the Korean Liaison Office, placing them under the command of the stalwart South Korean Navy Lieutenant Jang Hak-soo (Lee Jung-Jae). Their mission? Infiltrate enemy lines, disguise themselves as a North Korean inspection unit, and uncover the precise location of the North Korean defenses, thereby paving the way for Operation Chromite. As the team delves deeper into enemy territory, they find themselves trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse. North Korean Senior Colonel Lim Gye-jin becomes suspicious of Hak-soo, throwing a wrench into the operation by withholding vital information about the mines. The team, now on the knife's edge, must outwit and outmaneuver their adversaries to ensure the success of Operation "X-ray" and, ultimately, Operation Chromite. This captivating cinematic experience, a fictionalized rendition of the historical CIA/military intelligence operation "Trudy Jackson", plunges viewers into the heart of a covert mission that could alter the course of history.
