In the heart of Peking, just as the Empress proclaims the commencement of the Lion Dance martial arts competition, arrives Wong Fei-Hung and his loyal sidekick Chung. Accompanied by his young, Western-influenced adoptive aunt, Yee, whom Wong is clandestinely engaged to, the trio dives into the bustling city life. Wong soon finds himself standing at the crossroads of rivalry, with Tumanovsky, a Russian diplomat and an old school acquaintance of Aunt Yee, vying for her affection, and Club Foot, a brutal martial artist working for the cunning Leung Fun, dealing a harsh blow to Wong's father. Leung Fun, with his unyielding ambition, is hell-bent on securing a victory in the coveted Lion Dance contest, regardless of the means. As the city prepares for the grandeur of the Lion Dance contest, relationships tangle, conflicts intensify, and alliances shift. By the time the lion roars in the dance arena, many a change will reverberate through the vibrant streets of Peking.
