Ninja: Shadow of a Tear (2013)

In the heart of Japan’s dojo, where the art of the ninja is cultivated, American martial-arts master Casey Bowman has found tranquility. He's now the custodian of the dojo, happily married to Namiko, the daughter of his mentor Takeda, and anticipates the birth of their child. However, this serene existence is brutally disrupted when Namiko is savagely killed, leaving Casey heartbroken and thirsty for revenge. Guided by the code of survival that demands he trust no one and fight everyone, Casey embarks on a relentless pursuit for justice. Armed with the cryptic clue of victims marked by a unique mode of strangulation—barbed wire—he journeys from Osaka to Bangkok to Rangoon. He seeks out Nakabura, a former student of his dojo now leading his own in Bangkok, who suggests a sinister drug lord with a grudge against Casey's father-in-law might be behind Namiko's brutal death. The villain, known as Goro, runs a remote jungle factory in Myanmar, flooding the streets with perilous methamphetamine. Fear and respect for Goro run deep in the area, but Casey won’t be deterred. He hones his combat skills and delves into deep meditation, even managing to simulate his own death as he morphs into an invisible warrior, a true embodiment of a ninja. Goro, the drug lord, becomes his singular focus, his target for retribution. However, the path to justice is never straightforward. Just as Casey believes he's closing in on his prey, an unforeseen twist reveals that his fight has only just begun. In the shadowy world of ninja, where danger lurks at every turn, Casey's life becomes a testament to the ancient mantra: Trust no one, fight everyone. His struggle is not just to avenge, but to survive, and amidst the turmoil, he must navigate the treacherous landscape where alliances are as lethal as enemies.
