Plot

As the ominous shadow of Nazi invasion descends upon Czechoslovakia in 1939, the renowned armor-plating inventor, Dr. Axel Bomasch (James Harcourt), finds sanctuary in the heart of England. His daughter, the resolute Anna Bomasch (Margaret Lockwood), is less fortunate, caught in the iron grip of the invaders. Trapped within the harsh confines of a concentration camp, her plight is exploited in a cunning ruse by the coldly calculating Karl Marsen (Paul Henreid), a Gestapo officer masquerading as a fellow prisoner. This elaborate charade leads the Nazis to Bomasch's English hideaway, resulting in the father and daughter's forcible return to Berlin. With the drums of war pounding ever louder, British Secret Service Agent Dickie Randall (Sir Rex Harrison), operating under the cloak-and-dagger code name "Gus Bennett", embarks on a daring mission. Taking on the dangerous guise of a senior German Army officer, he navigates the perilous landscape of enemy territory. His seemingly reckless strategy involves seducing Anna to the German cause - a ploy that is far from unpleasant, yet fraught with danger. As Randall orchestrates the daring rescue, a cat-and-mouse game ensues, with Anna's trust in the audacious agent tested by his cavalier attitude. Their flight to freedom hinges on the precarious journey aboard the infamous Night Train to Munich. Unbeknownst to them, two Englishmen are also aboard the same train, their presence threatening to derail their plans and thrust them deeper into the throes of Nazi clutches. This riveting tale of courage, deceit, and survival unfolds against the backdrop of impending war, capturing the tense atmosphere of a world on the brink of chaos.
