As the school holidays approach, young Vada Sultenfuss faces an intriguing assignment: to pen an essay about an admired figure she's never met. Her choice? Her late mother, a woman unknown to her yet deeply admired. In pursuit of this sentimental exploration, she persuades her father to let her journey to the sun-drenched city of Los Angeles.
