Plot

In the aftermath of an unforeseen tragedy, Jane is left grappling with the abrupt loss of her lifelong companion, Fiona. Their bond, once unbreakable, now shattered by the specter of suicide, leaves Jane adrift in a sea of grief. Seeking solace and purpose, she finds herself in the heart of Fiona's family, nurturing Fiona's widow Gemma and their imaginative seven-year-old son Bailey. Gemma, a veritable fortress of stoicism, buries her despair under layers of work and a mask of normalcy. Meanwhile, Jane's free spirit becomes a beacon of comfort for Bailey, igniting a spark of joy amidst the sorrow. As Jane becomes an unexpected thread in the tapestry of Fiona's family, she inadvertently steps into the life her best friend abruptly vacated, living through the echoes of Fiona's existence. The two women, seeming polar opposites save for their shared heartbreak and love for Fiona, find themselves navigating an intricate labyrinth of grief and familial complexities. Tentative friendship blossoms into a profound intimacy between them. This unexpected connection, while offering a balm for their shared wounds, stirs undercurrents of uncertainty and threatens the fragile equilibrium they've managed to create. "My Fiona" weaves together the intricate threads of love, loss, and sexual identity in the contemporary world. It's a beautifully poignant narrative, exploring how two women respond to a shared tragedy and find solace in unexpected places. But as they attempt to heal, they must question: Can they mend their broken hearts, and will Jane continue this vicarious existence, living through the family Fiona left behind?
