Plot

As the festive cheer of Christmas envelops New York City, social worker Vanessa Hall, employed at a non-profit foster child placement agency, diligently works to create caring homes for children in need. Her motivation stems from personal experience, having herself navigated the complex maze of the foster care system. A cloud of mystery shrouds her past, with her father's identity unknown and her mother's untimely demise at age nine, leaving Vanessa with a myriad of unanswered questions. In a quest to unravel the threads of her lineage, Vanessa takes an ancestry test. The results not only unveil her ethnic roots but also reveal a startling truth—her biological father, Richard Hendricks, is very much alive and resides a mere hour away in the quaint town of Barrington, Connecticut. Richard, along with his loving wife, Pauline, and their three lively children, Caitlin, Aidan, and Emilia, lead a warm, close-knit family life. After confronting the shocking revelation and forging an initial connection, Vanessa accepts Richard's invitation to spend a few pre-Christmas days in Barrington, offering a chance to bridge the familial gap before the extended family arrives for the holiday celebration. Also joining this intimate gathering is Kris, a corporate lawyer from New York and a family friend, who, like Vanessa, finds solace in the Hendricks' household after the loss of his own parents. As the festive days unfold, Vanessa and the Hendricks gradually form a deep emotional bond, transforming strangers into family. However, the shadow of Vanessa's mother's past looms over this newfound connection, threatening to unravel the developing unity. Simultaneously, sparks fly between Vanessa and Kris, their budding romance facing the test of these latent family secrets. 'My Christmas Family Tree' is a heartwarming tale of discovery, connection, and navigating the intricate dance of family dynamics, all set against the backdrop of a magical Christmas season.
