In the imperfectly spherical world we inhabit, climate scientist Phoebe Phaidon finds herself rooted in the Institute for Cybernetics at Berlin University, entrusted with the seminar 'Introduction to Simulation Studies.' This responsibility, once Brenda Berger's, is now Phoebe's as Brenda must devote her energy to her virtual climate change simulation project, a potential lifesaver against the oncoming storm of her institute's possible shutdown. As the semester's end draws near, the success of this project becomes absolutely critical. Obligations draw Phoebe into the heart of Brenda's simulation, while a corporate consultant is introduced to boost morale and productivity within the institute's ranks. Simultaneously, the enigmatic professor Alfons Abstract-Wege captures the spotlight with a promising project on nutritional control, introducing 'nudging' as a pivotal concept. However, not everything is as it appears. Phoebe's discerning students raise suspicions of corporate manipulation lurking behind Abstract-Wege's research, leading to a disruptive occupation of the university's library. Amidst this chaos, Phoebe and her colleague Julius Kelp embark on a journey to a conference in Gdansk, Poland, in an urgent attempt to unpick the enigma of the imminent apocalypse. As the sands of time slip away, the specter of Judgement Day looms closer, casting long, ominous shadows over our potato-shaped planet. The fight for survival and understanding is on, and every tick of the clock echoes the urgency of their mission.
