Plot
Boarding a train destined for London, the gifted mathematician and author, Luke Williams, stumbles upon a chilling mystery. His unlikely companion, Lavinia Fullerton, an elderly woman from a quaint village, entrusts him with a sinister secret. The quiet tranquillity of her hamlet has been shattered by a string of deaths, dismissed as accidents by the local police but suspected as murders by Lavinia.
Luke's skepticism quickly evaporates when, in the hustle and bustle of London's streets, he witnesses a horrifying hit-and-run that claims Lavinia's life. Her ominous revelation now resonates with him, morphing into a haunting echo of truth. Driven by a sense of duty and a thirst for justice, Luke discards his comfort zone as he plunges into the heart of the village, a world far removed from his familiar realm of numbers and logic.
Teaming up with a spirited local girl, equally skeptical of the convenient 'accident' theory, he embarks on a dangerous quest to unearth the truth. Amid the rustic charm of the village, they are drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a potential serial killer. As Luke delves deeper into the mystery, he begins to realize that uncovering the identity of the murderer may not be as 'easy' as the title suggests. The tranquil village, it seems, holds secrets even darker than the shadows that line its cobble-stone streets.
