In the thrilling world of aviation, Bob "Three Star" shines as the daring pilot for Trans America Lines. Off-duty, he's a renegade in the sky, performing daring aerobatics that often land him in hot water. His heart belongs to Judy Wagner, a charming stewardess and his beacon amidst the clouds. Her younger brother Tom steps into this aerial world, eager to make his mark. A clandestine mission emerges, calling for Bob and Tom to ferry a scientist and his revolutionary explosive concoction to Washington. Unbeknownst to them, Jason, the conniving secretary to Mr. Lackey, is a puppet of a covert foreign entity. He catches wind of the mission, triggering a chain of events that leads to Bob being ambushed pre-flight. In the face of danger, another pilot, George, bravely steps up to fill Bob's shoes. Tragedy strikes mid-flight when the aircraft explodes, hurling the explosive mixture into a race between shadowy government agents and the villains who wish to smuggle it out of the country.
