In the tense climate of world conflict, enemy infiltrators are inescapable, persistently wreaking havoc on war-related consignments. The discovery of a vagrant's body in the aftermath of a train collision sets the stage for a mystery, as the man is found with a money belt carrying $50,000 and a peculiar tattoo - a circle and arrow. This mark is a clandestine symbol worn by hired saboteurs, and Brass is tasked with assuming the identity of the deceased to unveil his mission. Under the guise of Steve Coe, Brass finds himself in California, meeting with a dangerous cabal of enemy agents. His masquerade goes smoothly until an unexpected twist - the arrival of the late 'hobo's' wife. With the help of his trusty ally, Gabby, Brass narrowly escapes exposure and successfully learns of his assignment. His mission, a perilous one, is to infiltrate the USN airship 'Mason', a vessel testing the ultra-secretive Inertia Projector. His objective: to bring about the destruction of this technologically advanced airship.
