In the wake of Senator Samuel Foley's sudden demise, the young and idealistic Jefferson Smith, head of the Boy Rangers and a profound patriot, is unexpectedly appointed to fill the vacant seat by Governor Hubert Hopper. Despite Smith's glaring lack of political experience, he is thrust into the complex labyrinth of Washington politics. Unbeknownst to Smith, Hopper is a political puppet under the influence of the corrupt and potent businessman, Jim Taylor.
