Plot

In the chilling autumn of 2016, a formidable force of over 100,000 soldiers and militiamen convenes with a shared purpose - to wrest Mosul, Iraq's second largest metropolis, from the iron grip of the Islamic State. The narrative follows Ali Mula, an audacious Iraqi journalist, as he aligns himself with this diverse coalition of Sunnis, Shiites, Christians, and Kurds. Ali's quest is not merely to document the liberation of Mosul, but to discover if these disparate groups can bury their sectarian prejudices and unite against the common enemy of ISIS. As Ali's journey to Mosul unfolds, he crosses paths with an eclectic ensemble of characters. He meets a self-proclaimed "Crocodile", a Sunni tribal leader with teeth as sharp as his ambition; a female militia commander seeking vengeance for her slain husband; a shrewd, Iranian-backed militia leader; a former lawyer turned warrior; and an elite group of ISIS assassins. Amidst the battle-scarred landscape, he also encounters refugees who have somehow survived the relentless cruelty of ISIS rule. As Ali reaches the climax of his journey, he comes face-to-face with a hardened ISIS prisoner whose revelations expose the disturbing reality behind the terror organization. In the wake of Mosul's liberation, Ali is left grappling with a haunting question: Has the war against ISIS truly ended, or have the seeds of a new sectarian conflict already begun to sprout in the war-torn soil?
