In the crucible of conflict between 2014 and 2017, ISIS held the reins of the Iraqi city, Mosul. Rising from the ashes of despair was Nineveh province's SWAT unit, a band of native warriors, each bearing personal scars inflicted by ISIS - a lost family member or their own physical wounds. Mosul, a rare American cinematic endeavor, succeeds in bringing the Iraqi perspective to the fore. It is a testament, both robust and compassionate, to the unsung heroes who dared to resist.
