Official Secrets (2019)

This is the story of Katharine Gunn, a real life whistle-blower who risked everything to reveal America's secret plans to spy on other United Nations members. The NSA operation was designed to help find support for 2003's Iraq invasion, but Gunn's attempts at revealing truth are steamrolled by international politics and a shifting news cycle, and she finds herself imprisoned and charged with violating the Official Secrets Act. The case that follows would fundamentally shape the pretext surrounding laws protecting whistle-blowers, but it would also reveal scandals that extend deep and high through both the British and American political machines.
