Megan Leavey (2017)

The remarkable true story of Megan Leavey who enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2003. After basic training, she joined the K9 Military Police. She trained with Rex, a German Shepherd. Leavey and Rex were deployed to war zones in Iraq. They served heroically in Fallujah in 2005 and Ramadi in 2006. Both Leavey and Rex sustained significant injuries after their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. Leavey was awarded the Purple Heart and numerous honors. After retiring from service, Leavey strived to adopt Rex but would need the clout of a U.S. Senator to get past military regulations.
